About me
I am a researcher in the Imprecise Probability Group at Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA), located in Lugano, Switzerland. My research interests focus on uncertain reasoning, and more specifically on theoretical investigations and applications of the theory of imprecise probability.
Most of my work is related to credal networks, a class of probabilistic graphical models generalizing Bayesian networks to imprecise probability. Recently, I began to apply these models also to computer vision. At the present moment, I am involved in a research project granted by Armasuisse for the development of knowledge-based decision support systems based on credal networks. I work on this project under the supervision of my former Ph.D. advisor Marco Zaffalon.

- I teach Computational Mathematics at SUPSI.
- I am the Treasurer (and the former Executive Editor) of the SIPTA society.
- I served on the Program Committee of ISIPTA '09 '11, UAI 2010 2011 and 2012, IJCAI 2011 (among others). I gave lectures on credal networks for the SIPTA School '10 and the AAAI-10 Tutorial Forum. I organised special sessions on imprecise-probabilistic approaches during IPMU '10 and '12.
- I am reviewer for (among others) the IJAR journal (Elsevier).
- I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science from USI and a M.Sc. cum laude in Physics from the University of Milan.
