Giuseppe Cuccu

Hello, I'm Giuse (pron. "Joozeh"),

a PhD student working at IDSIA under the supervision of Faustino Gomez.
I am employed on the project "Advanced Cooperative NeuroEvolution for Unsupervised Learning and Autonomous Control" (EVO 2008), founded by the Swiss National Foundation (SNF).
My Ph.D. affiliation is with Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) under the supervision of Jürgen Schmidhuber.

I come from the Island of Sardinia (Italy), and I got my BSc and MSc in Computer Science in Milan at Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, under the supervision of Leonardo Vanneschi.

My research interests are in Non-linear Controls, Machine Learning, Evolutionary Computation, Recurrent Neural Networks, Reinforcement Learning, Fitness Estimation, Game Intelligence, Robotics, and the Lisp programming language.

I also love literature, martial arts and sports, cooking, strategy, videogames, hardware, motors (both cars and motorbikes), and much more - I have a broad curiosity.

Teaching experience

1. April 10: Thesis supervisor - Bachelor Course, Università di Milano-Bicocca (UNIMIB)
   Marko Bojovic - Neuroevolution of Augmenting Topologies: Studio, Implementazione ed Estensione
   First collaboration between IDSIA and UNIMIB. Awarded a score of 9/10 and praised for its innovative content.

2. Fall 09: Teaching Assistant - Master Course, Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI)
   Intelligent Systems
   Achieved maximum TA grade, with positive nominations from both teachers and students.
