On Wednesday 18 May 2022, the award ceremony of the Swiss edition of the Wiki Science Competition 2021, a competition organised in 13 countries and dedicated to scientific photography, was held in the Auditorium of the West Campus of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI).
The reportage "A day at the IDSIA USI-SUPSI" by photographer Marian Duven and published by the portal Ticino Scienza of IBSA Foundation won the "image sets" section of the competition.
The ceremony was attended by Luca Gambardella, Pro-Rector for Innovation and Corporate Relations at USI, Jenny Ebermann, CEO of Wikimedia Switzerland, Ivo Kruusamägi, President of Wikimedia Estonia and founder of the Wiki Science Competition, Silvia Misiti, Director of IBSA Foundation for Scientific Research, and Andrea Emilio Rizzoli, Director of the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence USI-SUPSI.
«Our environment is deliberately informal and collaborative. It is important to show what happens in research centres like ours, to show the faces of those who work to improve people's lives, spending countless days, and sometimes even nights, to complete highly innovative projects. We are proud that the images documenting our work are awarded in such a prestigious international competition and can become a collective heritage», said Prof. Andrea Rizzoli, Director of IDSIA.
